The devastating fires that ravaged Portugal on 15 and 16 October 2017 left an indelible trail of destruction in the collective memory. The municipality of Arganil was particularly affected, suffering immeasurable material damage and, more tragically, incalculable human losses. Faced with this calamity, a group of citizens felt an irresistible civic impulse to contribute, giving rise to a chain of solidarity in response to the emergency and the disaster.
It was in this context that SOS Arganil was born, an initiative driven by compassion and the desire to rebuild and support the devastated community. CIGA – Image Agency, recognising the importance and urgency of this movement, immediately joined the cause. Committed to making a significant contribution, CIGA developed the SOS Arganil logo and website, creating a platform to centralise efforts and facilitate communication.
The result is an informative and accessible website, which can be visited at http://sosarganil.pt. This site serves as a meeting point for solidarity, allowing people from all over to come together in support of the municipality of Arganil. Through this project, CIGA is reaffirming its commitment to social responsibility, demonstrating that in times of crisis, unity and collaboration are essential for recovery and hope.
